5 months prego and acting like a mad woman!

Well I have decided to admit to my most recent odd behavior. If you ask Chris this is just one insistence out of a string of many for me since I have been pregnant. Let me just start by telling you that over the past few days something has come over me. Everything has had a sense of urgency and I mean everything! It may be what most of my pregnancy books call nesting but I don’t think I am far enough along to be going through the nesting phase. Well anyway today I pulled up in the driveway and I screamed out load! My bushes needed trimming and it just sent me into a rage! Now I know they didn’t get this bad over night but something inside me just snapped! They couldn’t wait another minute and I was tired of asking Chris to take care of this simple task. So what did I do when I stopped screaming? I calmly got out of the car walked inside put my keys down, let Prissy out and walked to the gardening shelf in the garage. I grabbed the “cutting things” and went to work. Let me remind you that I just got home from work so I am still fully dressed with work clothes and jewelry. Yep me in my David Yurman jewelry are trimming the hedges! Well to add to this I have a witness to my strange behavior. My new neighbor and her 10 month old little boy decide to come over and introduce themselves. They have only lived on the street a short bit but long enough to know that I (the crazy lady on the street) lived in the last house on the left. I am sure she was thinking what street did I move on to. I have to admit I looked like a character from Desperate Housewives gardening in nice clothes and jewelry. I have no idea if she could hear my scream but I hope I didn’t scare her off for good! Well the hedges are trimmed and I have a sense of peace at least for the moment.   I hope none of you see me differnt now that I have admitted to my crazy behavior but I blame it on the hormones.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today is Valentine’s Day! A day filled with love. My favorite love story is that of my grandparents. Mamaw and Papaw’s love for each other inspires me daily. After 59 years of marriage you can still see the spark they have for each other. They still flirt, kiss, and surprise each other. I pray that Chris and I have will follow in their foot steps.

The other night, Chris asked me to be his Valentine and said that he was Madelyn’s Valentine too. At that moment I knew that Chris would be her Valentine for years to come but some day she will grow up and have to experience heart break to find her true love.  I wish I could take that pain from her but it is all a part of growing up.  I know God already has her husband picked out but I pray for her and her future love on this Valentines Day.

Life is Changing

How are life as already changed since being pregnant.

1. When Chris asks me “how are my girls?” he is no longer talking about me and Prissy.

2. My magazine basket is no longer filled with fashion magazines and Southern Living it is filled with Parenting books and magazines.

3. My favorite department in stores is no longer shoes but the baby section!

4. Speaking of shoes…High heels used to be on my feet daily and now stay at the back of my closet.

5. When I walk in a room people no longer ask me how I am doing they ask how Madelyn is doing.

6. People feel free to pet my belly without asking! This is VERY new to me.

7. Chris and I both love baby commercials and probably never noticed them before.

8. Chris, for the first time ever, is worried about his handy man skills when it comes to putting the crib together. He is not afraid that he will not be able to do it but will it be right and safe for our little one. ( His concern is so sweet!)

9. Chris is involved with interior decorating! Wow. All he is ever said before is that his deer head needs to be on the wall. He is now helping with pink paint colors and painting her room. What a great dad he will be!

10. My tummy used to be something that was held in but now I enjoy letting it all hang out!

It is a GIRL!

This morning at 10:30 our lives changed forever! We found out we are having a GIRL!!! Can we say pink, pink, and more pink? The whole family was with us as the lady announced, “It’s a Girl!” All I could hear were screams and Chris saying, “I told you so!” Cade also said, “I knew it!” I could not see Michelle but her and my mom were jumping for joy! Really Jumping! Claire told them to quit jumping on the furniture! Just to make sure the lady didn’t make a mistake Michelle asked her three different times if she was sure! The room was filled with joy and love. We could not have asked for a better day or a better moment. We were so blessed to be able to share this wonderful experience with our family. So the tradition continues…

My Mom was 17 when Michelle was born.
Michelle was 10 when I was born.
I was 17 when Claire was born.
Claire will be 10 when our daughter is born.

What is our lovely daughter’s name you ask…
Mary Madelyn Thiem

Mary is in honor of my grandmother (Mary Ann McGuire)

MARY

Gender: Feminine

Usage: English, Biblical

Pronounced: MER-ee (English), MAR-ee (English) [key]

Usual English form of Maria, which was the Latin form of the New Testament Greek names Μαριαμ (Mariam) and Μαρια (Maria) - the spellings are interchangeable - which were from the Hebrew name מִרְיָם (Miryam). The meaning is not known for certain, but there are several theories including "sea of bitterness", "rebelliousness", and "wished for child". However it was most likely originally an Egyptian name, perhaps derived in part from mry "beloved" or mr "love".

This was the name of several New Testament characters, most importantly Mary the virgin mother of Jesus, and Mary Magdalene. Due to the Virgin Mary this name has been very popular in the Christian world, though at certain times in some cultures it has been considered too holy for everyday use. In England it has been used since the 12th century, and it has been among the most common feminine names since the 16th century. The Latinized form Maria is also used in English as well as in several other languages.

This name has been borne by two queens of England, as well as a Queen of Scotland, Mary Queen of Scots. Another notable bearer was Mary Shelley (1797-1851), the author of 'Frankenstein'. A famous fictional character by this name was Mary Poppins, from the children's books by P.L. Travers.

Madelyn is a name Chris and I both have loved for years even before we were married.

MADELINE

Gender: Feminine

Usage: English, French

Pronounced: MAD-ə-lin (English), MAD-ə-lien (English), ma-də-LEEN (French), mad-LEEN (French) [key]

English form of MAGDALENE. This is the name of the heroine in a series of children's books by Ludwig Bemelmans, first published 1939.

She will go by her middle name (like my grandmother). Madelyn was ranked # 6 in 2009 for most popular names.
I will post a video of the sonogram and the home video we took today at a later time.
Thank you for all of your love and prayers! Please continue to keep us and baby Madelyn on your prayer list!

Baby's R Us

On Sunday afternoon we set out to do some baby shopping at Baby's R Us!  As we pull into the parking lot Chris is so excited because he gets to park up close in the "mother to be" parking spot.  As we enter the store the look of excitement starts to change into a look of an stressed man.  I think this is the first time he sees all the stuff that comes along with the baby.  It wasn't just the amount of stuff that shocked him the prices that went along with it had a little to do with it too.  But all is well that ends well.  We left the store with more excitement than ever!  We picked out a few things that we liked and headed to lunch at On the Border.  I can't get enough mexican food these days!  After lunch we went to get me some more maternity clothes.  He just loves laughing at the maternity pants with the big elastic waist.  I think he might be jelous that he can't wear cool pants like that.   Just 4 more days and we will know what we are having.  Chris says it is a girl but I think boy.  Who will be right?  Stay tuned to see!
